Due to a significant increase in respiratory viruses, WakeMed has implemented the second phase of its annual seasonal visitation restrictions. Effective January 14, children under the age of 12 are not allowed to visit patients in hospital nursing units, patient care areas, and waiting rooms.

WakeMed emphasizes that their top priority is the health and safety of patients. The institution acknowledges that these visitation restrictions may be challenging for families but insists that "restricting visitation is best clinical practice."

The healthcare provider advises against visiting WakeMed if individuals exhibit symptoms of any acute, contagious illness as a measure to protect patients.

Exceptions to these restrictions will be evaluated individually.
