A juvenile is in custody in connection with the slaying of two teenagers in Orange County. While the mother of one victim is glad a suspect has been arrested, she is still wondering why her son had to die.
“What was the reason?” Tiffany Concepcion asked in a CBS 17 report. “That’s all I want to know. Why [did] these two innocent kids’ lives have to be taken at that time?”
Her son Devin Clark, 18, and his friend Lyric Woods, 14, were found dead in mid-September when two men were out riding ATVs to check trail cameras for game activity. The two had been shot to death.
“They both were friends,” Concepcion said. “They didn’t deserve to die like this."
Concepcion said in the report that police told her another teen is in custody. Police have not released any other information because of laws protecting juveniles.
Concepcion is planning to organize a march soon to honor Clark’s memory. More importantly, though, she wants justice and to learn the answers to those nagging questions about why her son had to die.
“Just trying to get justice,” Concepcion said. “Just trying to figure out this story in this case. Just trying to put the pieces together."
The Woods family has not spoken to media outlets yet, with a pastor close to Woods’ family explained they are not quite ready to talk.
