City of Belmont issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.
Members of the Belmont Historic Preservation Advisory Board, Historic Belmont Foundation, and the new property owners gathered today to celebrate the installation of the historic landmark sign at Belmont’s most recently designated historic landmark. The Charles T. and Beatrice Chafin Stowe house was built between 1932 and 1935 and is a remarkable example of Tudor Revival style architecture. The house, located at 304 S. Central Avenue, is highly intact with many of its original exterior and interior building materials still in place. This was the home of Charles T. Stowe who is credited with saving Belmont Hosiery Mills after it struggled through the great depression.
