Rep. Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing North Carolina’s 12th district, shared her thoughts on various topics through social media posts in November 2024.
On November 20, Rep. Adams commemorated President Joe Biden's birthday with an expression of gratitude for his extensive public service career. She emphasized ongoing support for his efforts by stating, "Happy Birthday to President @JoeBiden! Thank you for working hard for the American people through your more than 50 years of public service. We will fight to defend the progress you’ve made."
The following day, on November 21, Rep. Adams addressed issues related to pay equity and its significance in creating a fairer future for women, particularly those of Native American descent. She highlighted this by asserting that "achieving pay equity is essential to creating a stronger, more equitable future for all women, including those of Native American heritage."
In another post on the same day, she pointed out economic challenges faced by Native American mothers who often serve as primary earners in their households but face wage disparities from an early age. Her message was clear: "The majority of Native American mothers are breadwinners for their families; yet from their first jobs, Native American girls are paid less than boys the same age, and the gap only widens as they grow older."
