The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) is scheduled to convene on April 30 and May 1 at the Dare County Government Center located at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo. The regular business meeting will commence on April 30 at 1 p.m. and continue the next day at 9 a.m. On May 1, a public input and comment session is planned for 9:15 a.m. Participants are advised that comments may be restricted to three minutes per individual depending on the discretion of the chair. Attendees have the option to participate in person or virtually.
Additionally, the Coastal Resources Advisory Council (CRAC) will gather at the same venue on April 30 at 9 a.m. This meeting will be accessible in person only.
During April 30, the CRC's agenda includes discussions on various topics such as variance requests related to Earnest, Oceanfront Setback, and the Town of Ocean Isle Beach's paving in the oceanfront setback. Other agenda items consist of discussions on updating environmental concern notices, potential fiscal analyses for ocean hazard areas, and urban waterfronts. The meeting also covers consideration regarding wheat straw bales for sand fencing and discussions about man-made ditches. A public hearing on the Jockey’s Ridge Area of Environmental Concern is scheduled at 4 p.m.
The agenda for May 1 includes the approval of beach management plans for Ocean Isle Beach and Carolina Beach, along with litigation updates of interest to the Commission. There will also be a field trip to Buxton and Rodanthe.
