The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) is set to open a new license plate agency in Southport on February 11. The new facility will be operated by James Mills and located at 4891 Long Beach Rd., S.E., Unit 6, within the Food Lion Shopping Center. It will serve customers from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., except during state holidays.

In North Carolina, while the NCDMV supervises license plate agencies (LPAs), these are managed by private businesses or local governments. LPAs provide services including vehicle registration, title transactions, license plate renewals, replacement tags, handicap placards, and duplicate registrations. Across the state, there are currently 125 operational LPAs.

Additionally, certain services such as property tax payments and registration renewals can be completed online via MyNCDMV.gov.
