Town of Cary issued the following announcement on Jan. 15.
Prepped and set: the Town of Cary’s streets, surfaces, emergency response, and staff are primed and ready to handle potential inclement weather and hazardous driving conditions expected most of Sunday and into Monday. Crews have been out since Thursday morning with brine trucks to combat expected ice, freezing rain, and snow that may accumulate on roads. Plows are also on standby should conditions warrant the clearing of Cary's 503 miles of street. This year’s winter storm inventory includes roughly 100 vehicles consisting of spreaders and plows – along with 2,800 tons of salt.
All scheduled Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs for Sunday, January 16 are canceled and facilities will be closed. This includes all league sports, events, and activities for the day. Facilities and programming will remain open under a normal operating schedule through Saturday evening, including many of the Town’s Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations; the most up-to-date program, class, and sports league status can be found on our Weather Delays and Cancellations page.
There are no changes to GoCary service at this time. Any updates on transit status, schedules, or service levels will be made available at GoCary.org.
The Citizen's Convenience Center is currently scheduled to open with normal operating hours on Sunday and Monday. No changes to curbside collection days for next week are expected at this time but may change as conditions warrant. Delays to collection start times on Monday are possible so citizens should their leave bins curbside throughout the day to allow our crews time to safely cover routes.
During inclement weather, the fastest way to request a non-emergency service is to make a request online through 311 Cary. This includes reporting downed trees/limbs and slick spots and plow and road clearing requests during and after a storm. Please reserve 911 for immediate threats to life or property.
