City of Bessemer issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
As Mayor and on behalf of the City Council, Police Department, City Staff, and community, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Officer Mia Goodwin and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Our community sends deepest sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to the family and department.
As Mayor, I am ordering all flags in Bessemer City to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Officer Mia Goodwin and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
