The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) State Energy Office has scheduled a public hearing on April 17, which will invite comments on the Weatherization Assistance Program’s Annual State Plan. The hearing is open to the public for in-person or online attendance.
This program assists low-income and disadvantaged communities in North Carolina by helping them save energy, lower utility costs, and maintain safe homes.
"In addition to the Annual State Plan, members of the public can also comment on the accompanying revised Training & Technical Assistance Plan, Health & Safety Plan and Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications proposed for adoption."
The hearing is set for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. It will be held at the DEQ Green Square Office Building, Training Room #1210, located at 217 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. There is also an option to join via Webex using the meeting number 2420 972 6609 and the password NCWAP2025.
Participants should be aware that the hearing officer may limit the length of comments to manage time effectively.
Comments can also be mailed to the NC DEQ Weatherization Assistance Program at 1613 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1613. Alternatively, emails can be sent to seo.publiccomments@deq.nc.gov with "2025 Weatherization Comment" in the subject line. The public comment period is open from April 7, 2025, until April 21, 2025. Comments must be postmarked, emailed, or delivered by the deadline to be included in the record.
