Today, Governor Josh Stein announced that Yeadon Fabric Domes, LLC will establish a manufacturing facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The company plans to create 72 new jobs and invest $4.6 million in Cumberland County.
Governor Stein expressed his enthusiasm for the development: “We are delighted to welcome Yeadon Fabric Domes to Cumberland County.” He highlighted the state's manufacturing leadership and strategic location as key factors attracting innovative companies.
Yeadon Fabric Domes specializes in designing and manufacturing climate-controlled domed structures used in various sporting venues. The company has installed its air-supported facilities in over 30 countries for clients including professional football teams and universities like the University of Pennsylvania and Marquette University. The new Fayetteville site will feature a 72-foot-tall domed structure within a 50,000-square-foot production space at the Fayetteville Regional Airport.
Matt Mejia, CEO of Yeadon Fabric Domes, commented on the expansion: “Yeadon Domes is thrilled to be expanding our operations to Fayetteville.” He expressed gratitude for the support received from Governor Stein and local partners in North Carolina.
N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley noted that North Carolina's favorable business environment would benefit Yeadon Fabric Domes: “North Carolina is one of the fastest growing states in the nation as it continues to be recognized as the top state to do business in America.”
The average annual salary for the new positions will be $47,734, surpassing Cumberland County's average salary of $47,175. This could result in an annual payroll impact exceeding $3.4 million.
A performance-based grant of $225,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will aid Yeadon's relocation efforts. The fund supports local governments in attracting economic investment by providing financial assistance contingent upon job creation and capital investment targets being met.
N.C. Senator Val Applewhite welcomed Yeadon's investment: “They will greatly benefit from our transitioning military families which offer a uniquely skilled and prepared workforce that a company of this impact will need.”
N.C. Representative Diane Wheatley praised the collaboration between state and local officials: “This is a great win for Cumberland County and the entire state.”
Key partners involved in this project include the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Community College System, Cumberland County, City of Fayetteville, and Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation.
