A change is set to occur at a Brunswick County intersection next week, where the current two-way stop will be converted into an all-way stop. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to install new stop signs and pavement markings at the intersection of Bell Swamp Road and Bell Swamp Connection on February 10. This schedule may change if weather conditions are unfavorable.
Motorists in the area are advised to remain vigilant as crews work on implementing this new traffic pattern.
The decision follows a safety review conducted by NCDOT, which assessed traffic volumes and crash patterns at the location. According to NCDOT, "an all-way stop was the most cost-effective way to improve safety at the intersection." Further information about all-way stops can be found on their website.
