For nearly two decades, Common Cause North Carolina has been dedicated to empowering students at the state's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through its HBCU Student Action Alliance. This commitment continues today with the work of Common Cause Democracy Fellows, who are actively bolstering civic engagement across all 10 HBCU campuses in North Carolina. They ensure that students' voices are heard both at the ballot box and within government corridors.

As the spring semester of 2024 drew to a close, the current cohort of Common Cause Democracy Fellows from HBCUs statewide convened at Shaw University in Raleigh. The gathering was an occasion for celebration and reflection on their significant achievements, as well as an opportunity to anticipate future endeavors.

The pivotal role of Common Cause NC and its exceptional Democracy Fellows persists as they gear up for the upcoming fall election. Their mission is to continue the tradition of fostering a new generation of democracy leaders.
