WASHINGTON — On Thursday, March 7, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, chaired by Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT), will hold a hearing titled "Divisive, Excessive, Ineffective: The Real Impact of DEI on College Campuses."
Chair Owens expressed his concerns about the state of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, stating, “As a child growing up in segregation, I experienced separate bathrooms, water fountains, and schools. America has made significant strides, and it's appalling to see blatant discrimination, indoctrination, and divisiveness encouraged and funded from classrooms to corporations.”
Further emphasizing the importance of the hearing, Owens added, “We cannot let DEI sabotage our country's fundamental values of hard work and meritocracy, teaching our children that it's acceptable to judge each other based on race or sex. This hearing represents our committee's latest push to expose the true nature of DEI and its consequences for students, faculty, and learning outcomes.”
The Subcommittee hearing titled "Divisive, Excessive, Ineffective: The Real Impact of DEI on College Campuses" is scheduled to take place at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2175 Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
The hearing will be open to the press and will be live-streamed on the Committee’s YouTube page.
