WASHINGTON – Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) took to the House Floor to criticize Julie Su's performance as "Acting Secretary of Labor" on the one-year anniversary of her tenure. Foxx called on President Biden to withdraw Su's nomination for Secretary of Labor.

In her remarks, Chairwoman Foxx highlighted concerns about Su's track record, stating, "Why one year as ACTING Secretary? Su doesn’t have the support or votes to be confirmed." Foxx pointed out issues during Su's time as California’s Secretary of Labor, including allowing fraudsters to steal $32 billion in unemployment insurance and supporting AB5, a state law that she now aims to make federal, which denies workers the freedom to choose their work.

Foxx also criticized Su's current agenda at the Department of Labor, accusing her of drafting 75 new regulations that would negatively impact workers and job creators. She further expressed dissatisfaction with Su's approach towards Congress and the public, stating, "Acting Secretary Su continues to thumb her nose at Congress and the American public."

The Chairwoman highlighted Su's alleged lack of cooperation with Congressional oversight, stating, "Under Ms. Su’s leadership, DOL has stonewalled Congressional oversight. In fact, in December she failed to comply with a duly served Congressional subpoena."

Foxx concluded her remarks by calling for better leadership at the Department of Labor and urging President Biden to withdraw Su's nomination, stating, "The American people deserve better leadership at DOL. Mr. President, withdraw Ms. Su’s nomination."
