CITY OF ALBEMARLE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT: Tour De Elvis 5K & Cycle Tour in Albemarle

City of Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.

If you enjoy a scenic run or bike ride you'll have a  Burning Love for the Tour De Elvis 5K & Cycle Tour in Albemarle.

The 5K race starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 9.

The Cycle Tour starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 10.

Participants will receive a tee shirt and other goodies.

All proceeds from the race will go to the Rodger F Snyder Greenway Fund.

See Stanly County on a summer Saturday morning with a hundred of your closest friends!! With three distance options, there’s a route for serious riders as well as those who have to shake the dust off the bike before getting on.

All routes are ride-at-your-own-pace and will explore the backroads and small towns that make Stanly County a great place to live, work, and visit.

Rest stops will be set up every 15 to 20 miles, and SAG support will be provided along the route. For safety, all riders must wear an ANSI-approved helmet, and are to obey all traffic laws and rules of the road.
