City of Belmont Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.
Two preseason soccer camps were held on Sunday, August 7th and 14th between 1:30-3pm at Ebb Gantt Soccer complex to kickstart the Belmont Parks and Recreation youth boy's and girl's upcoming Fall soccer programs.
The camp was organized by Brian McGonagle, Belmont Parks and Recreation Department Athletic Supervisor and was in partnership with both the Men's and Women's Belmont Abbey Crusaders soccer team and staff.
Over 100 campers came to meet the college players and participate in various technical drills which targeted age-appropriate skill sets. Volunteers coaches were also present to learn the best strategies coaching various age groups and skill levels.
Belmont Parks and Recreation are organizing league play currently for the upcoming Fall season and will be forming (45) youth teams ranging in age from 3-15. The program has grown roughly 25% from the previous season bringing in over 460 participants by the Aug 8, 2022, registration deadline.
