CITY OF WILSON: City closes offices for New Year's Day

Closedddddd

City of Wilson issued the following announcement.

The City of Wilson will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, in observation of the New Year’s Day holiday. The customer service office will also be closed Saturday.

Here’s how the closure affects city services this week:

Environmental Services: Monday and Tuesday garbage and recycling routes are on schedule.

Thursday routes will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Friday routes will be collected Thursday, Dec. 31.

Christmas tree pickup begins this week. They must be stripped entirely of decorations, including tinsel, lights and anything unnatural as they will be ground up and mulched. Trees should be left at the curb, not in the street.

Environmental services will have no special junk pickups this week for appliances, bulky items, etc. Those resume Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.

Customer Service: The customer service office on Nash Street will be closed Friday and also Saturday. The drive-through lanes will reopen Monday, Jan. 4, but long lines can be anticipated since it will be the first week of the month.

Other options to pay bills are:

  • Doing so online atwww.WilsonNC.org;
  • Using the automated system at 399-2200; or
  • Leaving payments in the dropbox at the customer service center on Nash Street. It is located in the drive-through lane.
Wilson RIDE: The city’s transit system will operate on New Year’s Day, although perhaps with a limited number of drivers. Use the Via app or call 595-5357 to schedule rides.

All emergency services will operate on normal schedules this weekend. Utilities will be staffed and ready to respond to outages or other situations; call 399-2424.
