Description:
In this two-day workshop series on Planned Giving, you’ll not only learn the importance of establishing an "ultimate" commitment from the highest levels in your organization, but also how to achieve success through a coordinated, comprehensive plan that works! The program is designed to ensure a charity not only begins an aggressive, active program but that it succeeds in bringing in numerous expectancies. "A major part of the problem is that staff members are too stressed, and there is too much emphasis on funding that is needed NOW," says workshop instructor Alex Comfort. In order to achieve optimal success, in the way you need, two or three key volunteers are needed to help make planned giving happen. The success of this plan requires all development staff members who will be involved in Planned Giving need to be present both days. Additionally, it is strongly recommended that if the volunteers cannot be present on Day 2 for the training, a letter of commitment from these volunteers will be required. There will be a special session on the first morning that covers the basics of Planned Giving, how to integrate this plan into the overall development program, and what is required of the agency leadership to make a complete program effective. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that the Executive Director or CEO and the Board Chair attend the morning session. On the second day it is highly suggested that two or three key lay volunteers be present. What is needed? The entire organization needs to make a commitment to implementing an effective Planned Giving campaign. Alex has created a program that involves key leadership and volunteer support in the training: As part of this program, two or three key volunteers should be identified that can commit enough time to assist staff members with the implementation. Development staff must have a clear understanding of what types of Planned Giving options are available and how they function – in layman’s terms! The organization must develop a strategy to integrate Planned Giving amid annual fund, major gifts, and endowment fundraising in your agency. The development team must have knowledge related to how to use a Legacy Program to increase agency prospects and expectancies. The organization must incorporate Planned Giving as a permanent and sustainable part of its program. Instructor: Alex Comfort, CFRE Over the last 33 years, Alex Comfort has done Planned Giving as a professional, lectured on Planned Giving, and consulted with agencies on Planned Giving. He believes passionately in its importance. As a Baby Boomer, Alex dreads the day when his generation stops giving and the nonprofit world starts to fight to survive. Planned Giving can solve this problem. He has more information on his website, www.mn-ps.com.
