Washington Regional announces executive leadership promotions to strengthen operations and growth

Washington Regional announced on May 1 the promotion of three leaders to key executive roles, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, patient care, and support long-term organizational growth.

The organization said Cindy Jo Allen has been promoted from Vice President and Assistant Chief Operating Officer to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In her new position, Allen will manage daily operations across Washington Regional, focusing on efficient care delivery and support for clinical teams. Allen brings over 18 years of experience in nursing leadership, process improvement, and hospital administration.

Rebecca Cowie has advanced from Assistant Chief Nursing Officer to Chief Nursing Officer. Cowie joined Washington Regional in 2012 as a clinical nurse specialist for critical care and emergency department units. She played a key role in developing the Stroke Program at Washington Regional, which is the only hospital in Arkansas with Joint Commission Advanced Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Cowie has also served as Director of Critical Care, Neuro Progressive, and Neurosurgical ICU.

Tom Olmstead was promoted from Senior Vice President and General Counsel to Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. Olmstead has served as General Counsel since 2000. His expanded responsibilities include overseeing legal functions, strategic planning, operational alignment, human resources, risk management, and governance.

According to the announcement, these changes are part of an effort to align Washington Regional for ongoing success while maintaining its mission of improving community health through compassionate care and wellness education.
