WakeMed has received a certificate of need from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to construct a new healthplex in Rolesville. The facility will be WakeMed’s sixth healthplex and its tenth full-service emergency department.

The planned 32,000 square-foot building, named WakeMed Rolesville Healthplex, will feature a 24/7 emergency department with 12 treatment rooms. It will also provide diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy services. Projections estimate that nearly 8,000 patients will be treated at the new emergency department during its first year of operation.

Rolesville Mayor Ronnie Currin commented on the development: “This will be a massive benefit for people in Rolesville. As we continue to grow, access to nearby medical facilities is crucial. This facility will enhance our response to emergencies as well as provide high-quality care to the residents of Rolesville.”

In the previous fiscal year, WakeMed reported treating approximately 44,000 patients from Rolesville and surrounding areas—including Wake Forest, Youngsville, and north/northeast Raleigh—at its emergency departments.
