WakeMed has been recognized as one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report for 2025-2026. The hospital was ranked #29 out of 1,049 adult rehabilitation hospitals evaluated nationwide.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that WakeMed Rehabilitation Hospital has been included among the nation’s best for treating patients recovering from traumatic injuries, strokes, heart attacks, and other serious conditions.

Located on the WakeMed Raleigh Campus, the facility is a 73-bed inpatient hospital and is currently the largest rehabilitation center in North Carolina. The team at WakeMed specializes in comprehensive care for adults and children who have experienced strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, orthopedic issues, traumatic injuries, or limb loss. Its programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), which represents the highest standard in this field.

“At WakeMed, we support our patients on their path to recovery and their journey to maximum rehabilitation and independence,” said Tom Gough, WakeMed executive vice president and chief operating officer. “The WakeMed Rehabilitation Hospital team of specialists represents the best in health and healing, utilizing the latest rehab techniques, technology, education and more to provide the full continuum of care while helping patients and their family members restore quality of life.”
