All three hospitals under WakeMed in Raleigh have received ‘A’ grades in the latest Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group. This achievement positions WakeMed Raleigh Campus, WakeMed Cary Hospital, and WakeMed North Hospital among the top 29% of hospitals nationwide with high safety scores for spring 2025.

Specifically, WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed Cary Hospital are recognized as “Straight A” hospitals, a designation shared by only 346 U.S. hospitals for maintaining ‘A’ grades over five or more grading rounds. This group represents 12% of all eligible hospitals.

The Spring Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined by evaluating 30 different measures, including errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and preventive systems in the hospitals. WakeMed’s hospitals scored above the Leapfrog average in most of these measures.

WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed Cary Hospital have each received the “Straight A” designation eight consecutive times, while WakeMed North Hospital has achieved an ‘A’ grade six times in the last eight reporting periods.
