Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announces virtual sessions amid severe weather closures

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has been actively communicating updates and information through their social media platform. Recent posts highlight events and adjustments due to weather conditions.

On March 3, 2025, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced a "Virtual Lunch and Learn: Understanding Special Education" event scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2025. The session is set from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, aiming to educate participants about the special education process and its benefits for children.

A severe weather advisory was issued on March 5, 2025. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools informed the public that "all Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed on Wed., March 5" due to expected heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 MPH between 4 AM and 7 PM.

In light of the inclement weather forecast on the same day, an in-person budget information session at Irwin Academic Center was moved online. The school district stated that "the in-person budget information session originally scheduled for 5 p.m. ... will now be held virtually."
