On March 3, 2025, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced a "Virtual Lunch and Learn: Understanding Special Education" event scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2025. A severe weather advisory was issued on March 5, 2025. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools informed the public that "all Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed on Wed., March 5" due to expected heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 MPH between 4 AM and 7 PM.
