The North Carolina Turnpike Authority has announced overnight ramp closures on Toll N.C. 540 as part of ongoing construction on the Triangle Expressway extension from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.

The closures will affect Toll N.C. 540 Westbound Exit 39, providing access to N.C. 50/Benson Highway, and Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound Exit 43, leading to Old Stage Road. These exits are scheduled to be closed overnight from February 9 through February 10, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Drivers may experience delays and are advised to follow posted detour routes or avoid the area if possible.

For drivers needing access to N.C. 50/Benson Highway from Toll N.C. 540 Westbound, the recommended detour is:

- Continue west on Toll N.C. 540

- Take Exit 43 (Old Stage Road)

- Turn right onto Old Stage Road

- Turn right onto Ten Ten Road

- Continue to N.C. 50/Benson Highway

For those accessing Old Stage Road from Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound, the detour is:

- Continue east on Toll N.C. 540

- Take Exit 39 (N.C. 50/Benson Highway)

- Turn left onto N.C. 50/Benson Highway

- Turn left onto Ten Ten Road

- Continue to Old Stage Road

Additionally, closures are planned for February 11 and February 12 for Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound Exit 39 and Westbound Exit 43 during the same nighttime hours.

- Continue east on Toll N.C. 540

- Take Exit 36 (I-40)

- Travel east on I-40

- Take Exit 312 (N.C.42)

- Turn right onto N.C.42

- Turn right on Cleveland Road

- Continue to N.C.50/Benson Highway

For access to Old Stage Road from Toll N.C.540 Westbound:

- Continue west on Toll N.C.540

- Take Exit45 to U.S401

- Turn right onto U.S401

- Turn right onto Ten Ten Road

- Continue to Old Stage Road
