Chairman Bob Good of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions is set to lead a hearing on the operations of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). The hearing, titled "Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation," is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:15 a.m. in the 2175 Rayburn House Office Building.
In a statement, Chairman Good expressed his concerns about the PBGC, stating, "The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) represents some of the worst of the Biden administration’s incompetence and misuse of taxpayer dollars." He highlighted the agency's failure to implement proper controls and verification procedures, resulting in significant inaccuracies in payments, including funds allocated to deceased participants. Chairman Good emphasized the need to address the mismanagement and ineffectiveness within the PBGC, indicating that the upcoming hearing will bring transparency to these issues.
The hearing, open to the press and available for live-streaming on the Committee’s YouTube page, aims to shed light on the operations and challenges faced by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
