Almost three-quarters of North Carolina voters oppose Chinese interests owning North Carolina farmland.
That’s according to new poll results released by the League of American Workers (LAW).
74 percent of voters in the state oppose allowing Chinese ownership of North Carolina farmland, while only 18 percent support allowing it.
The poll results come after Old North News reported that more than 49,050 acres of farmland in North Carolina is owned by Chinese interests.
Steve Cortes, founder of LAW, told Old North News that “allowing the Chinese to acquire strategic US assets like farmland makes no sense, and must be stopped.”
“Defending America’s sovereignty involves more than the obligation to physically guard our border — we must also protect the strategic resources of America, starting with our fertile farmland,” said Cortes.
Cortes is a political advisor and commentator. He previously traded global currencies and interest rates for 25 years for large international hedge funds. He has been an on-air broadcaster for CNBC, Fox News, and CNN.
Cortes founded LAW in 2022 to conduct research and develops proposals on public policies impacting American workers and the economy.
