Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) has co-sponsored S. 1624, the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0.

The bill would support  the National Institutes of Health’s Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program by redirecting penalties collected from pharmaceutical, cosmetic, supplement, and medical device companies that break the law to pediatric and childhood cancer research.

The bill was originally introduced by Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), Jerry Moran (R-KS), and Mark Warner (D-VA).

Sen. Budd said in a statement:

“America’s scientific community is on the cusp of developing cures to some of the most dangerous cancers, which offers tremendous hope to the countless children currently suffering from these dreaded diseases. I am proud to support a bill that ensures this research is a priority and researchers have the resources necessary to develop more cures and save more lives.”
