CITY OF BESSEMER CITY: Light Up Bessemer City

City of Bessemer City issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

The City of Bessemer City would like to announce the 2022 “Light Up Bessemer City” Holiday Lights Contest. We are looking for residents/businesses who have the spirit of Christmas with a hint of Clark Griswold in them to participate in our holiday lights contest.

The Light Up Bessemer City contest is open to any resident/business in Bessemer City. Applications are due on December 16th and all homes/businesses must be fully decorated that night. All participants must be willing to share their address and family/business name to the judges. We also hope all participants will leave up their lights through the New Year so other residents can check out their holiday lights.

Judges will be driving house to house to take photos and/or videos of each home signed up to participate in the competition. If a home/business is not decorated at that time (December 16th), the application will be voided. Participation is free and encouraged!

Judging

Homes submitted for the competition will be collectively judged by three anonymous non-city residents.

Winners will be announced the week of Christmas on Bessemer City social media outlets (Website, Facebook, Twitter).

Photos and Videos of applicants, as well as addresses, will be posted to the city website and Facebook pages.

Categories and Prizes

Four winners will be named based on the following categories:

-Classic Christmas

-The Griswold Award

-Best Theme

-Business

Winners will also receive a prize and a yard sign for bragging rights!
