CITY OF ASHEBORO: City Council Meeting Agenda | June 9

Meeting

City of Asheboro issued the following announcement on May 31.

1. Call to Order

 2. Silent Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance 

3. Public Comment Period 

4. Linda Brown, President of the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, and Community Development Director Trevor Nuttall will discuss the Regional Intercity Visit 2022 to Upstate South Carolina. 

5. Public Works Director David Hutchins will discuss the city's fuel conservation plans. 

6. Police Chief Mark Lineberry will present the annual police department report.

 7. Police Chief Mark Lineberry and Fire Chief Willie Summers will discuss the city’s “Active Shooter” response training.

8. Mayor Smith will open the public hearing on the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023: 

(a) Budget overview from Finance Director Deborah Reaves; and (b) Oral and written comments from the public. 9. Consent Agenda 

(a) Approval of the meeting minutes for the city council’s regular meeting on May 5, 2022. 

(b) Approval of the meeting minutes for the city council’s special meeting on May 20, 2022. 

(c) Acknowledgement of the receipt from the Asheboro ABC Board of its meeting minutes for April 4, 2022. Agenda Page 2 June 9, 2022

(d) Acknowledgement of the receipt, on May 20, 2022, of the budget message and proposed budget for the Asheboro ABC Board for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. 

(e) Approval to schedule and advertise, for July 14, 2022, legislative hearings on the following conditional zoning applications: 

(i) An application to amend the RA6 (CZ) zoning on property at 3140 Zoo Parkway, including lots within the Parkway South Townhomes subdivision as well as the city’s sewer lift station, for the purpose of dedicating to the public the subdivision’s private streets; 

(ii) An application to rezone property on the west side of Zoo Parkway, located approximately 225 feet south of Ridge Avenue (Randolph County Parcel Identification Number 7750943464), from R10 to R7.5 (CZ) zoning for a residential planned unit development; and 

(iii) An application to rezone property at 1352 East Salisbury Street (Randolph County Parcel Identification Number 7761510840) from OA6 to OA6 (CZ) zoning for business, professional, and personal services and an overflow parking area; to rezone 342 Patton Avenue from R10 to OA6 (CZ) zoning for business, professional, and personal services; and to amend the I2 (CZ) property at 1420 East Salisbury Street and 358 Patton Avenue due to proposed changes to the motor vehicle repair (major) and rental/sales of domestic motor vehicles uses. 

(f) Approval of a resolution authorizing the advertising of electronic public auctions of surplus city-owned personal property by electronic means only.

(g) Approval of a resolution authorizing the sale of certain surplus cityowned vehicles by public auction. 

(h) Approval of a resolution honoring Fire Inspector John Russell upon his retirement from employment with the City of Asheboro. Agenda Page 3 June 9, 2022 

(i) Approval of an ordinance to close the Water and Sewer System Improvements Project Fund. 

(j) Approval of an ordinance to amend the Water and Sewer Fund0.
