CITY OF ASHEBORO: City Council Meeting Agenda | April 7

City of Asheboro issued the following announcement on Apr. 1.

1. Call to order. 

2. Silent prayer and pledge of allegiance. 

3. Rebekah McGee, Executive Director of Downtown Asheboro Inc., will present the NC Main Street Champions Award to Joel McCloskey. 

4. Charles Archer, with Freese & Nichols, Inc., will present the final report and findings for the Asset Inventory and Assessment Grant for the sanitary sewer collection system. 

5. A petition from residents of the Regency Square community regarding public safety matters near the intersection of Dixon Avenue and Dixon Street. 

6. Public comment period. 

7. Consent Agenda: 

(a) Approval of the meeting minutes for the regular city council meeting held on March 10, 2022. 

(b) Approval of the meeting minutes for the special city council meeting held on March 25, 2022. 

(c) Acknowledgement of the receipt from the Asheboro ABC Board of its meeting minutes for February 7, 2022. 

(d) Approval of scheduling and advertising, for May 5, 2022, a legislative hearing on an application to place a block defined by South Church Street, Lanier Avenue, Hammer Avenue, and West Kivett Street (Randolph County Parcel Identification Number 7751703525) into an OA6 (CZ) zoning district and approve a whole block redevelopment for a multi-family development for the elderly. 

(e) Acceptance from the Recreation Services Director of a notice concerning the 2022 operational hours for the Downtown Farmers’ Market and outdoor city-owned swimming pools.

 (f) Acknowledgement of the filing of the executed 2022 oath of office forms for members of the Asheboro Airport Authority. 

8. Community Development Director Trevor Nuttall will introduce the following land use cases: 

(a) Legislative Hearing (Case Nos. RZ-22-03 and SUB-22-02): An application for R10 (CZ) zoning and subdivision sketch design approval for a residential planned unit development proposed to the west of 2513 Old Cedar Falls Road; and 

(b) Subdivision Sketch Design Review (Case No. SUB-22-03): The Timber Ridge subdivision proposed for the south side of East Allred Street. 

9. City Engineer Michael Leonard, PE will request council action on the annexation petitions received from Stephen Bryant, Kevin Douthit, and Kathy Cavin for three parcels of land on Sterling Street: 

(a) A resolution directing the city clerk to investigate the annexation petitions; and 

(b) A resolution setting the date for a public hearing on the question of annexation. 

10. The city attorney will present for consideration and potential action ordinances designed to amend certain regulations in the following subject matter areas: 

(a) Speed Limitations; 

(b) Stop Intersections; and 

(c) Alcoholic Beverage Consumption in a “Social District.” 

11. Mayor Smith will announce a special meeting to be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Zoo City Sportsplex. 

12. Mayor Smith will lead a discussion of upcoming events and items not on the agenda. 

13. Adjournment
