TOWN OF CARY: Help Shape Cary: Apply for the Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity Task Force

Town of Cary issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.

Citizens interested in participating in human relations, diversity, equity & inclusion efforts in Cary can apply now through January 14 to be considered to serve on the Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity Task Force. In their role as task force members, citizens shall identify areas of concern about Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity issues, prioritize the most important ones the Town can affect through policies and services, and establish goals, objectives, and recommendations for addressing the identified issues.

The Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity Task Force is a group of citizens and Town staff whose duties shall be to provide recommendations to the Mayor and Town Council regarding the following:

  • Recommending effective strategies for public engagement, removing barriers, and increasing access to Town services for citizens, visitors and businesses
  • Recommending opportunities for community partnerships as a strategy to better understand and address equity impacts throughout the Town 
  • Facilitating the building of relationships with under-served and underrepresented citizens, visitors and businesses
  • Performing other such duties that the Mayor or Council Liaison may direct
Applications are accepted through January 14, 2022, and can be completed online; appointments will be made by Mayor Harold Weinbrecht and terms begin this spring with task force orientation scheduled to occur in March 2022. Appointments to this task force may require a two-year term or until work plan has been concluded.
