Town of Cary issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.
Citizens interested in participating in human relations, diversity, equity & inclusion efforts in Cary can apply now through January 14 to be considered to serve on the Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity Task Force. In their role as task force members, citizens shall identify areas of concern about Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity issues, prioritize the most important ones the Town can affect through policies and services, and establish goals, objectives, and recommendations for addressing the identified issues.
The Human Relations, Inclusion & Diversity Task Force is a group of citizens and Town staff whose duties shall be to provide recommendations to the Mayor and Town Council regarding the following:
- Recommending effective strategies for public engagement, removing barriers, and increasing access to Town services for citizens, visitors and businesses
- Recommending opportunities for community partnerships as a strategy to better understand and address equity impacts throughout the Town
- Facilitating the building of relationships with under-served and underrepresented citizens, visitors and businesses
- Performing other such duties that the Mayor or Council Liaison may direct
