City of Burlington issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.
This October, the Burlington Police Department is recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month by partnering with the Alamance Regional Charitable Foundation to
support their Pink Ribbon Fund, which allows women access to diagnostic procedures they may not otherwise be able to afford. For women found to have a malignancy, the funds will provide
breast cancer therapy essentials.
Officers were given an opportunity to purchase pink versions of their department badge, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit cancer screenings and treatment in our community. In
addition, officers who have purchased these badges in the past will make a donation to the foundation to showcase the badge on their uniform. More than 70 Burlington police officers will be wearing these special pink badges throughout the month to help spark the community conversation about the importance of annual cancer screenings.
The Burlington police department invites members of the community to support local cancer charities and make annual medical appointments with their health care provider.
