U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) recently introduced in the U.S. House a resolution that opposes the “Protecting the Right to Organize Act” and demonstrates the importance of states’ right-to-work laws, which Bishop believes are important as Democrats prepare to vote forward a reconciliation package worth around $3.5 trillion.
“Right-to-work laws are an important safeguard against this attack on freedom, and it’s why 27 states, including North Carolina, have implemented these laws,” Bishop stated in a press release.
According to Keystone Today, a right-to-work law prohibits companies and unions to require union membership as a condition of employment. Over 25 states have these laws on the books.
Recently, right-to-work laws have been highlighted as a marker of economic success. Keystone Today reported that states with right-to-work laws appear to be recovering their economies more quickly than those without.
Bishop represents North Carolina's 9th Congressional District. He was elected in a special election in 2019.
