TOWN OF CARY: Nominations Open for Cary Hometown Spirit Award

Town of Cary issued the following announcement on Aug. 26. 

The Town of Cary is seeking nominations for the Town’s Hometown Spirit Award. Given annually since 2009, the award recognizes a citizen who enhances the quality of life in Cary by preserving, promoting, and carrying out positive and quantifiable small-town community values and traits.

“This award helps preserve, honor and recognize our town’s charm,” shared Brent Miller, 2020 Hometown Spirit Award winner. The Hometown Spirit Award exemplifies the small-town Southern hospitality for which Cary has long been known and recognizes service to the community that helps Cary remain true to its small-town roots.”

Cary citizens can submit nominations August 26-September 23, 2021 using an official nomination form available online. Forms can also be submitted to the Clerk’s office by email at Sarah.Schubert@townofcary.org, or by mail to Town Clerk’s Office, Town of Cary, P.O. Box 8005, Cary, NC 27512-8005.

Cary citizens ages 21 and older are eligible for the award. Nominees should demonstrate leadership and integrity and be respected by their peers. In addition, nominees should exhibit some of the following traits: helps out neighbors and fellow Cary citizens; demonstrates hospitality; promotes and preserves traditional American pastimes; shows a concern for preservation and works to preserve traditions and the small-town atmosphere in the community; promotes a sense of community in their neighborhood and all of Cary; demonstrates patriotism through promotion and preservation of the country's symbols and dedication to the U.S. military, past and present; and serves the community through business.

At the November 9, 2021 council meeting, the Town Council will recognize the finalists and announce this year’s winner.
