CITY OF BURLINGTON: Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

City of Burlington issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.

Many households are struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. But the federal Emergency Broadband Benefit Program provides:

• $50 a month for internet services

• $100 discount for a laptop, computer or tablet bought through a participating provider

Some people who may get the discount:

• Have income at or below 135% of federal poverty guidelines

• Recives Lifeline benefits through SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance, or Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit

• Lost a job or significant amount of income since February 29, 2020
