North Carolina Congressman Patrick McHenry posted a pie chart on his Twitter page which detailed the funding priorities of the latest COVID-19 relief bill.
Along with the pie chart, McHenry wrote a statement saying, “Check out this eye-opening graph from @GOPLeader that highlights just how little of the Dem’s so-called COVID relief bill will actually help combat the coronavirus. Over 90% of this bill goes towards enacting President Biden’s political priorities, not helping those in need now.”
McHenry is one of many Republicans who is criticizing the funding priorities of the Democratic-backed COVID-19 relief bill, saying that it does little to fix the pandemic problem. According to McHenry the $1.9 trillion relief package is being used more to fund pet projects of the Democrats.
In his pie chart, 91 percent of the funding will go to union pensions, blue state bailouts, Planned Parenthood, National Endowment for the Arts, Nancy Pelosi’s Silicon Valley tunnel, Chuck Schumer’s bridge and various universities across the nation. Only 9% of that relief package will go to battling the COVID-19.
Most Republicans are saying that the Democratic-backed bill is not funding enough vaccine programs to battle the pandemic. They also say that the amount is too expensive that it would take years for the nation to recover financially.
