City of Asheboro issued the following announcement.
Due to current guidance from the Governor of North Carolina and public health officials as a precautionary measure due to COVID-19 (Corona Virus) Asheboro Cultural & Recreation Services is closing its recreation center as well as the Sunset Theatre for programs and rentals effective March 16 through the end of the month. Additionally, all youth and adult athletic practices, meetings, and games are suspended. Also suspended during this time period are the Randolph County Senior Games which will be rescheduled for a later date. This action follows Governor Cooper’s executive order restricting public gatherings and is taken to encourage social distancing and prioritize the health of Asheboro’s citizens.
Outdoor spaces that will remain open at this time, include all parks, the Municipal Golf Course, Lake Lucas & Lake Reese recreational areas, Skate Park, and tennis center. We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and provide updates as appropriate.
