Town of Swansboro recently issued the following announcement.
The USMC 2d ANGLICO will conduct a communication training exercise in and around Swansboro (an urban environment) that cannot be replicated on Camp Lejeune on Wednesday, January 29th and Thursday, January 30th from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. This training will duplicate training the Town has previously supported.
There will be unmarked government vehicles, each carrying unarmed Marines in civilian clothes. They will drive to various locations in Swansboro and stop for a few minutes to conduct hand-held radio communication with rotary or jet aircraft that will be passing overhead. The aircraft will remain high enough to minimize noise concerns and the impact on the civilian population will be very minimal.
