Ted Budd, a senator from North Carolina, expressed his views on the ongoing conflict involving Hamas and Israel. He said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that “Hamas should free all hostages and end the war.” Budd also remarked that some countries condemn Israel while recognizing Palestine.

“The video released by Hamas over the weekend is horrific and highlights an alarming lack of moral clarity by nations condemning Israel while offering recognition of Palestine,” said Budd. “The solution is simple: Hamas must release ALL hostages and end the war—or be destroyed.”

Over the weekend, Hamas released footage depicting two emaciated Israeli hostages. This action has led to global condemnation and shifted media attention in Israel back to the plight of the hostages from Gaza’s humanitarian situation. According to Reuters, this development has prompted renewed calls for intensified rescue and negotiation efforts.

During the attacks on October 7, 2023, Hamas abducted 251 individuals. By mid-2025, 148 hostages were released through various means such as deals, rescues, or exchanges. Reuters and Wikipedia report that 50 hostages remain in Gaza, with Israeli intelligence estimating that only 20 are still alive.

France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Malta, and Australia have recently announced their intentions to recognize the State of Palestine at the September 2025 United Nations General Assembly. According to Reuters and Time magazine, this decision indicates a shift in diplomatic momentum concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Ted Budd was born on October 21, 1971. He is a Republican U.S. Senator representing North Carolina since 2023 and previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. According to Wikipedia, Budd’s focus areas include agriculture, national security, and “America First” trade and fiscal policies.
