The N.C. Department of Transportation has announced a road closure in Pitt County scheduled for this weekend, contingent on weather conditions. The western section of Worthington Road at the intersection with Corey Road will be closed from 6 a.m. on February 8 until 6 p.m. on February 9.

This closure is necessary for the installation of drainage crosslines as part of ongoing roundabout construction efforts. During this period, traffic will be rerouted via Old Tar Road, Laurie Ellis Road, Jack Jones Road, and County Home Road.

Despite the closure, the intersection itself between Corey Road and Worthington Road will remain accessible as only the western leg is affected by the construction work.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when near the work zone and can access real-time traffic updates through DriveNC.gov.
