David Rouzer, Representative of North Carolina, said that the One Big Beautiful Bill enhances the state’s agriculture by providing increased resources, bolstering rural economies, and protecting farmland. The statement was made on X.

“The One Big Beautiful Bill brings real wins for NC agriculture,” said David Cheston Rouzer, U.S. Representative from North Carolina. “More resources for our farmers, stronger rural economies, and protection for the land that feeds America.”

The One Big Beautiful Bill aims to deliver targeted agricultural benefits for North Carolina by permanently raising the estate tax exemption. This measure ensures family farms can remain intact through generational transfers and extends full expensing for new agricultural buildings and equipment. According to Senator Ted Budd, these provisions are designed to safeguard rural economies and strengthen farm viability.

The American Farm Bureau reports that the One Big Beautiful Bill allocates $65.6 billion to agriculture over ten years. Of this amount, $59 billion is designated for safety net programs such as Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC), Price Loss Coverage (PLC), and crop insurance. Additional funds are earmarked for disaster aid, trade, research, and rural infrastructure—promising significant benefits for North Carolina farms.

According to data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), North Carolina ranked 8th in U.S. agricultural sales in 2022. The state had 42,814 farms generating $18.7 billion and exporting approximately $4.6 billion annually, primarily in pork, poultry, and tobacco. These figures highlight North Carolina’s importance in both national and global agriculture.

Rouzer has represented North Carolina’s 7th District since 2015 after serving in the state senate and USDA. According to Wikipedia, he focuses on agriculture, rural development, and infrastructure while serving on the House Agriculture and Transportation Committees.
