The Department of Public Instruction will choose a district and schools serving up to 15,000 students and a vendor providing real-time monitoring, early warning indicators, tiered interventions, multilingual two-way family communication, dashboards, and privacy safeguards. The bill appropriates $75,000 for technology, implementation, training, administration, and evaluation and requires a report by Feb. 1, 2028, on attendance outcomes, efficiencies, and possible statewide expansion. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.

Bills in North Carolina follow a multi-step process before becoming law. A lawmaker starts by filing a bill, which is assigned to a committee for review.
