Rep. Hall files bill in North Carolina House to change Rural Hall’s charter process

In essence, this bill amends the charter of the town of Rural Hall to create a uniform process for unaffiliated candidates seeking municipal office by petition. The bill requires such candidates to follow the petition requirements in Article 11 of Chapter 163 of the General Statutes and authorizes the Forsyth County Board of Elections to set rules on when completed petitions must be submitted for verification and what voter information the petitions must include, such as full name and street address. The act takes effect when it becomes law and applies to elections held on or after that date.
