Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrests Andrekes Lamont Brown after traffic stop and pursuit

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrekes Lamont Brown on April 13 following a traffic stop that led to a pursuit along US Highway 64 and Red Rock Road in Asheboro. The chase continued for nearly eight miles before Brown stopped on Lambert Trail in Ramseur, where deputies took him into custody.

Authorities reported finding an open container and a firearm during the search of the vehicle. Brown was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. According to officials, he faces several charges including felony possession of a firearm by felon, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor driving while impaired, misdemeanor driving while license revoked (impaired revoked), misdemeanor open container of alcohol, failure to maintain lane control, driving left of center, improper turn, and improper use of traffic lane. He was also served four orders for arrest related to previous failures to appear on misdemeanors.

Brown received a combined total secured bond of $75,000. His first court appearance was scheduled for April 13 in Randolph County District Court.

In related community data from the education sector, recent statistics show that among senior students taking the science portion of the ACT in Randolph County school districts during the 2022-23 school year, only about 16 percent were considered ready for college according to state education officials. For juniors taking the same test section that year, just over 14 percent met college readiness standards according to state education officials.

Similarly low readiness rates were observed in reading and math portions among both seniors and juniors: approximately one-quarter of seniors demonstrated college readiness in reading while only about one-eighth did so in math according to state education officials.
