The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) State Energy Office will hold a public hearing on March 12 to gather input on the Weatherization Assistance Program’s Annual State Plan for fiscal year 2027. The plan outlines how the program will be managed, as required by federal regulations. The public can attend the hearing in person or online.
The Weatherization Assistance Program offers free weatherization services to income-eligible households in North Carolina, aiming to save energy, lower utility bills, and improve home comfort and safety.
Comments are also being accepted on related documents: the revised Training and Technical Assistance Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications.
Written comments may be sent by mail to the DEQ Weatherization Assistance Program at 1613 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1613 or emailed to seo.publiccomments@deq.nc.gov with “2026 Weatherization Comment” in the subject line. The comment period runs from February 19 through March 18, 2026. All comments must be received or postmarked by March 18 to be included in the record.
