The Portland Thorns announced on May 6 a new multi-year partnership with Bank of America, naming the company as the club’s Official Wealth Management Partner and introducing several community initiatives aimed at expanding access to soccer in the Portland region.

The collaboration is centered around creating opportunities for youth, families, and local businesses through programs such as Soccer with Us, which seeks to make soccer more accessible for children. The partnership reflects both organizations’ focus on community impact.

“Two of Portland’s most established institutions coming together means we can do this at real scale,” said Alexis Lee, President of Business Operations for the Portland Thorns. “Through Soccer with Us, youth clinics, and our ‘My First Game’ experience, we’re opening the game up to more kids and families across the region. Bank of America is putting real resources behind all of it, and that’s what makes this partnership significant.”

Bank of America will sponsor youth clinics throughout the season and support experiences like “My First Game,” helping introduce new fans to Providence Park. The bank’s branding will also appear on players’ training kits during practices. “The Portland Thorns are a source of pride and inspiration across our region,” said Marc Compton, Oregon and Southwest Washington managing director for Bank of America Private Bank. “Beyond being cultural icons, they embody the power of women’s sports to drive lasting economic benefits that uplift local businesses and contribute to Portland’s overall vitality. Together, we will create pathways for more young people around Portland to learn, grow, and envision big things for their futures.”

The partnership will also include initiatives supporting entrepreneurs through programs like Game Ball Delivery and Playmakers of Portland that highlight business owners and community leaders.

Founded in 2012, the Thorns have led women’s soccer in attendance records nine times by 2025 while achieving three National Women’s Soccer League championships since their inaugural season according to information provided by the club.

Bank of America operates globally in over 35 countries offering banking services including investing and asset management products to individuals as well as corporations according to the official website. The company focuses on environmental, social governance leadership while aiming to improve financial lives by promoting responsible growth according to its official website.
