Peach season is underway in North Carolina, and the Robert G. Shaw Piedmont Triad Farmers Market is set to celebrate with Peach Day on Friday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy free peach samples, meet the N.C. Peach Queen, and collect peach recipes along with information to take home. Khaila Daye, NCDA&CS peach marketing specialist, stated, “Peach Day is dedicated to one of North Carolina’s favorite summertime fruits. It’s about honoring our N.C. peach growers, enjoying a sweet taste of summer, and bringing shoppers out to experience the local goodness that makes N.C. agriculture the best around.”

North Carolina boasts approximately 1,200 acres of peach orchards primarily located in Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, and Anson counties. Peaches are noted as a healthy snack option or an ingredient for various recipes.

The market at 2914 Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax is accessible via Exit 208 off Interstate 40 and operates daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. More details on events and activities can be found on their website or Facebook page.
