The North Carolina Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board will hold a meeting on April 1 at 10 a.m., according to an announcement from the board. The public is invited to attend either in person or online, with advance registration required for those wishing to speak during the public comment period.
The advisory board plays a role in assisting the state Departments of Environmental Quality and Health and Human Services. Its members, who are experts in toxicology, public health, ecology, engineering, and related fields, provide recommendations on reviews and evaluations of contaminants. They also act as consultants for decisions regarding contaminant regulation and help identify which contaminants should be studied further.
For those interested in participating virtually, details for joining via Webex or by phone have been provided by the board. Virtual attendees who want to speak must register ahead of time using an online form supplied by the organizers.
More information about the Secretaries’ Science Advisory Board—including recordings of past meetings—can be found on their official website at https://deq.nc.gov/about/boards-and-commissions/secretaries-science-advisory-board.
