The North Carolina Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission has approved the parole of Christopher D. Jacobs, who was convicted in Scotland County Superior Court for first-degree murder (case number 95 CRS 9363) and received a life sentence. Jacobs was convicted on January 15, 1999.

According to the commission, Jacobs’ parole will be granted through the Mutual Agreement Parole Program (MAPP), which is a collaborative initiative between the commission, the state prison system, and the offender. MAPP is designed to provide both scholastic and vocational opportunities as part of a structured agreement. The commission stated that “Under the agreement, the offender’s parole release date is October 1, 2025.”

Although North Carolina’s Structured Sentencing law abolished parole for crimes committed on or after October 1, 1994, the commission remains responsible for considering parole for individuals sentenced under previous guidelines.

In its notification to media outlets, the commission explained: “If you have questions concerning the parole process, please contact the Parole Commission at (919) 716-3010.”
