The North Carolina Oil and Gas Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Raleigh. The session will take place in the Ground Floor Hearing Room of the Archdale Building at 512 N. Salisbury St., Downtown Raleigh.
Members of the public can attend the meeting in person, join online through a provided link, or participate by phone. Details for joining remotely include a webinar number and password as well as a phone access code and passcode.

The Oil and Gas Commission is responsible for adopting rules regarding oil and gas exploration within North Carolina. It also regulates well spacing for exploration purposes, establishes designated drilling areas, and sets limits on production from oil and gas exploration.
According to the commission: “The Oil and Gas Commission is responsible for adopting rules on oil and gas exploration in North Carolina.”
Additionally: “The Commission also has the authority to regulate the spacing of wells for oil and gas exploration, as well as establish areas where oil and gas drilling can occur and limit the production of oil and gas exploration.”
